Giant Barb advances Digital Asset development

Apr 09, 2025
Hanoi, April 8, 2025 - The Giant Barb Science and Environment Joint Stock Company hosted a high-level delegation from Xemii Exchange, part of the KHI Group, led by its Chairman, Mr. Na Jeong Sik.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Le Anh Hoang, Chairman of the Board at Giant Barb; Dr. Le Xuan Nghia, Chairman of the Institute for Development Research (CODE); Mr. Tran Van Dung, former Chairman of the State Securities Commission of Vietnam; Mr. Le Quang Linh, Director of Giant Barb; and other senior representatives from both organizations.

During the session, the two parties discussed strategic cooperation in the field of financial technology, with a particular focus on operating a cryptocurrency exchange and developing the Blue Coin - a digital currency initiative proposed by Giant Barb. This collaboration is seen as a breakthrough in combining financial innovation with green economic solutions.

Mr. Na Jeong Sik noted that Vietnam holds significant potential for digital asset development, although the country is still awaiting the completion of a legal framework. In comparison, countries such as Cambodia and Laos have made earlier strides in establishing regulatory structures and piloting virtual currencies. Notably, as of March 2024, eight banks in South Korea have already integrated digital currency platforms into their financial operations.

Xemii Exchange, operated by KHI Group, is an international cryptocurrency platform that allows users to utilize digital assets via Visa cards and supports transactions in over 200 fiat currencies. With a robust technological foundation and a vision toward global integration, Xemii aims to expand its presence in Vietnam in the near future.

At the meeting, Giant Barb presented several flagship projects currently underway:
  • Issuance of green bonds for the AquaOne project to raise capital at lower interest rates and with longer maturities;
  • Implementation of greenhouse gas inventories and emission reduction planning;
  • Research and development of green projects aimed at generating carbon credits, in cooperation with the Korea Testing & Research Institute (KTR);
  • Investment in biogas recovery models to generate electricity and carbon credits—applicable to both businesses and small households;
  • Development of carbon credit initiatives from landfill gas recovery activities.

Looking ahead, Giant Barb intends to launch Blue Coin, a digital currency backed by carbon credits, with plans for official listing on the Xemii platform. The company proposed three strategic initiatives to its international partner:

(1) Giant Barb proposed becoming the operating partner for Xemii Exchange in Vietnam and will officially receive technology transfer upon the completion of the domestic legal framework.

(2) The company proposes to collaborate on educational and training programs on digital currency at major universities, including Hue University and Thai Nguyen University, to raise awareness and equip younger generations with essential knowledge in the crypto field.

(3) Giant Barb requests support from Xemii in developing and operating Blue Coin, ensuring global standards for security, transparency, and accessibility.

He affirmed Xemii's readiness to partner with Giant Barb to develop innovative and sustainable fintech products, while also promoting policy recommendations to regulatory authorities in Vietnam.

It is expected that Mr. Na Jeong Sik will issue an official response in the coming weeks regarding policy recommendations for digital currencies in Vietnam – a prospective step that is expected to lay the foundation for the sustainable development of the nation's digital asset market in the digital age.
